On behalf of Dallas County R-1 Schools, I would like to share the free and exciting services Parents as Teachers has to offer, to get your child school ready.

  • Personal visits with educators who are trained in child development to give guidance in fostering the child's intellectual, language, social and motor development.
  • Group meetings with other parents to share experiences and discuss topics of interest.
  • Parent resource center which offers reading materials and videos for check-out.
  • Yearly screening of the child's skills and growth.
  • Access to other resources (First Steps and Early Childhood Special Education).
  • Help parents feel more confident in their parenting role.
  • Promote children's eagerness to learn so that they can be successful when they reach kindergarten and beyond
  • Begin a home-school partnership as early as possible.
